My first couple of weeks at PCC have been fun, difficult, interesting, and everyday brings something new to my days. Half of the semester is already gone and I can’t believe that my courses are almost over. However, so far in my English 100 course our professor gave us an in class essay exam, which was really scary, in my opinion. It was great that he had talked to us about the topic and allowed us to use our reference material, but in the end it was still nerve wracking. Our essay topic was about what position that we stood on, on the on going debate about restriction on books in libraries, schools and classrooms. I thought I had done poorly on my essay but it turns out that I didn’t. I got a 8.8 out of 10 which my not be an A but I was almost sure that I had done worse. I figured out that if I needed any help in my essay I could have gone for help in the TLC, gone to the reference librarians, or to the writing center. All three places are great sources that have people that can help answering any of my questions, giving me advice in what I can do to improve myself and give me information about where I can go to get better help.
One of my failures that I have had throughout this semester has to be my amortized table assessment. I did very poorly on this test because I didn’t study before taking the test. My score was an 11 out of 20 and to me that was bad because normally I get a perfect sore or nothing less then an 18, however that wasn’t the case this time. I know I should have studied the night before or at least look it over but honestly I didn’t get it because I was absent when my professor explained what was going to be on the test. Instead of doing what I should have done, go and asked the professor what I missed and if he could help me, I tried to just wing it and I got a poor grade.
