We read the Maddonas of Echo park book throughout out the hole semester. It was a pretty good book and taught me many things. For example, how Echo Park was in the 90's and how strong discrimination was. Unfortunately, as we read the books we had to do Reading Response Journals. These journals were made up of 5 repeating questions. The questions where a summary of the chapter, your connection to the reading, two questions about the chapter, where or what you were doing while reading and good vocabulary words. The journals after a while just got repetitive and a bit boring. The book however was interesting in some ways and not as bad as many thought.
Through out these assignments the things I got out of it were how to annotate better and how to interpret. The hard thing for me was having to type everything up since I didn't have a computer. But academically I struggled with having to read between the lines and interrupt. After all the RRJ's I did through this semester I truly did develop my skills. I'm more focused in the books I read and its easier for me to know what the author wants to say through the text.

The picture to the right, is a picture of one of my summaries of a chapter. Before when I used to right summaries I would just right a few sentences of the main point. However, after following the RRJ templet I figured out to write more on a few pages of a book. The RRJ templet was to the point and helped out with developing the way I read and how to process and interpret the texts.
