Jam Reflection
I began Math Jam on August 11, which was considered week 3 of Math Jam. I was fortunate enough to have Antron as my tutor for the week, and my group was great. Everyone in my group of 10 were all planning on majoring in different majors but we all got along. It was interesting to find out most of them weren’t from Pasadena, I was actually the only one from Pasadena, aside from our instructor. Math jam provided an in-site of how college would be and it was great to meet people before college started.
There were many things that I learned from Math Jam, like getting familiar with the campus, knowing where I can go for help, and getting to know others outside of my circle of friends. But the most significant place that Math Jam showed me was the Shatford library. The library is significant to me because in high school I hardly went to my library unless it was to get my books in the beginning of the year and turn them in at then end of the year. However, being in college I’ve realized that the library is an essential place to go and get information and utilize the things that it offers.
The Shatford library was remodeled and opened there doors September 7, 1993. After the long construction period I’m great full that the library was open way before I started college because ever since I began college I’ve been in and out of the library. I go often because I use the computers, printers, and study booths to finish homework I know I might not do at home. I’m glad we had a little workshop in math jam about the library and the online library website that is as useful to navigated around articles and books I need.
