The day I went to interview I was nervous to talk to Helen Perez. Mrs. Perez has been a social worker for 15 years. At first we talked a bit about ourselves and our interests then I went on by asking her the following questions:
She said she had a stead job that she went to from 8am to 4pm. There were a few deaths she encountered while being a social worker for children, but she didn't want to get in details with the case. Mrs. Perez let me know that the job is very stressful because personal feelings make you want to prosecute the case in a different way then he normal procedures. When she gets a bad case she normal goes for a job to get her mind off of it, however her job career has affected and influenced her life in many ways. It has been hard to leave her children alone knowing everything that she has seen and gone through. She has a daughter that is 7 years old and Mrs. Perez always checks on her as much as she can. When it comes to question 6 she says she is more often in an office however, she does meet a lot of people. If there is a serious case the head social workers get together and decide which social worker is best for that particular case. It's was interesting to find out that when she has first enrolled in college she went in as a business major, but that didn't work out for her. She actually dropped college for a year and just worked. Her turning point to go back to school was when she was volunteering at Head Start. She loved helping the teachers with the children and when she saw some parents not doing their job as parents it would hurt her. She then when back to college to help other children, she wants to help as many children as she can.
